Ooma is a VOIP service provider. You would buy their Telo which is the primary DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology) ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter), and once set up, you can either plug a phone into the ATA or buy their cordless phones intended to work exclusively with the Telo. I have 2 handsets. One is in the living room, and the other is next to my bed. In addition, I have a Lynx which is a secondary ATA that is intended for either phones, or fax machines. I was informed incorrectly when I bought my newest laser printer, as it doesn’t support faxing capabilities. This will have to be adjusted when finances will allow for it.

The first number is my home voice line. When you call this number, you would ring both of the cordless phones that are setup. There is a SPAM block feature that will send suspected callers to voicemail. I can then check my voicemail at my convenience. However, since I hadn’t had the need to provide this telephone number, I hadn’t had any actual calls on this line. And since I am a Premiere customer, the second line is being kept for simplicity reasons. The second number is attached to the Lynx (secondary ATA) which will be used for faxing when I get a functional fax machine.
